Thank you for visiting my website and taking the first step in becoming the best advocate for your own health. I believe that patients should play a central role in the management of their orthopaedic injuries, and I am here to help you reach your goals and get back in the game.
I am a specialist in the surgery of the hip and knee in Redding, California. I strive to give each of my patients highly personalized treatment. My interests include non-replacement options for hip arthritis, as well as the latest techniques in minimally invasive hip replacement and resurfacing. I have advanced fellowship training in total hip replacement, total knee replacement, total shoulder replacement, revision total hip and knee replacement, and fracture care.
My credentials include completion of residency at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. In addition to an excellent exposure to the breadth of orthopaedics, I was introduced to the field of joint replacement and osteotomy under the guidance of Dr. Kathryn Schabel and Dr. Thomas Huff. Following the completion of orthopaedic residency, I spent one year under the direction of Dr. Mauro Giordani at the University of California, Davis, where I became a student of hip and knee surgery. While under Dr. Giordani's direction, I participated in hundreds of total hip arthroplasties, cartilage transplantation (osteochondral allografting), mosaicplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, realignment of the pelvis, femur and knee (osteotomies), and resurfacing hip arthroplasty.
In addition to participating in a variety of surgical cases at the University of California, Davis, under the direction of both Dr. Mauro Giordani and Dr. John Meehan, I worked on both clinical and basic science research. Current topics of investigation include: simultaneous bilateral knee replacement, bone density in hip replacement and hip fractures, the electronic collection of patient reported outcomes, and blood testing for the detection of infections in hip and knee replacement. I have also led research into novel applications of partial knee replacements.
Having completed my fellowship training, I returned home to the North State. As I continue to develop my practice, my goal remains to provide the highest quality care to each and every patient.
